Citrix Acquires Cloud.com

Today we announced that Cloud.com had joined forces with Citrix. This is not only a great day for Cloud.com investors, all of us at Cloud.com are also extremely excited to become Citrix employees.

Cloud.com has a long history working with Citrix. We have supported various versions of Xen hypervisor since our 1.0 release in Nov 2009. Some of our large customers such as Zynga, KT, Tata, and Go Daddy all deploy Citrix technologies. We learned a lot about Citrix in the process. We firmly believe Citrix is the best positioned to succeed in cloud computing.

1.       Citrix offers cloud providers an impressive set of technologies that complement the CloudStack cloud orchestration software developed by Cloud.com. Our customers build clouds using Citrix XenServer, Xen Desktop, and NetScaler VPX/MPX products. With the acquisition of Cloud.com, no other software company has the breadth and depth of technologies in cloud computing.
2.       Customers love Citrix products.  Citrix was born from the idea of unlocking applications from datacenters and employees from the office – creating new ways for people to work. From virtual desktops to online meetings, Citrix products are cloud-based services. It is no coincidence that Citrix emerges as a leader in cloud computing.
3.       Citrix is a great partner. Even a small company like Cloud.com was able to derive significant benefits from our partnership with Citrix. Citrix was always willing to work with us to drive common customer success. It did not matter when it times we appeared to be taking business away from another Citrix product. Citrix would support us if our product met customer’s needs better. This is why Citrix works with multiple hypervisors, multiple systems vendors, and multiple storage and networking technologies. Citrix will be successful in cloud computing because it can work effectively with ecosystems partners.

It has been an amazing 2 years and 10 months to build Cloud.com from a simple idea to a significant force in cloud computing. Our customers, partners, and community member, we could not have done it without you. But our work is not done. By joining forces with Citrix, we can serve you even better. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the coming years.

Open@Citrix

Citrix supports the open source community via developer support and evangeslism. We have a number of developers and evangelists that participate actively in the open source community in Apache Cloudstack, OpenDaylight, Xen Project and XenServer. We also conduct educational activities via the Build A Cloud events held all over the world.
