My First Day In The Citrix CTO Office

As I am sure you all have seen by now, today marked the announcement of Citrix’ acquisition of – heralding a newly drawn line in the sand for customers who are keen to accelerate their individual cloud deployment strategies.  

Despite only being a team member for just over a week, which must be the shortest tenure at a startup in living memory, I’m genuinely excited and very proud to become a member of the Citrix family, as this is an organization I have worked closely with, know very well and have a tremendous respect for.

In a previous life, I was honored to represent my former employer, Bechtel, as a member of Citrix’ Customer Council and through that, I was given the opportunity to get to know the culture of Citrix, the commitment of the leadership and the sheer passion for creating delight in the products.

Christian is the Chief Cloud Architect at Citrix, where he is responsible for accelerating enterprise cloud adoption of CloudStack. Prior to joining, Christian, served as Principal Technology Architect and Manager of Global Systems Engineering for Bechtel Corporation, the world's largest privately owned engineering & construction company, where he was responsible for the architecture and design of enterprise computing, communications infrastructure and cloud computing strategy in support of complex global business operations. Christian also led Bechtel's EMEA Infrastructure Group, providing innovative infrastructure solutions to support Bechtel's engineering and construction project activities across business lines and geographies, and was Manager of Information Systems and Technology on the US$20 billion New Doha International Airport project in Qatar—the first purpose built airport to handle unconstrained operations of the Airbus A380 aircraft.

Citrix supports the open source community via developer support and evangeslism. We have a number of developers and evangelists that participate actively in the open source community in Apache Cloudstack, OpenDaylight, Xen Project and XenServer. We also conduct educational activities via the Build A Cloud events held all over the world.
