Hello, I'm working on testing a basic installation of Cloudstack and was curious of other's experience running the XenServer hypervisor from a USB flash drive to take full advantage of my physical disks for local storage. Or is this a scenario that I should avoid altogether. Thanks in advance.

I'm still new to cloudstack, but have experiance with hypervisors. This just sounds like a bad idea tbh. The time taken to get it working, could of been better spent on earning a bit of money to buy a cheap 2nd hand hard-drive. Which would have better performance too.

Thanks. I was trying to save on some real estate but it sounds like keeping things simple is the way to go.

Yeah, this is definitely not a good idea for production use. A USB drive is not going to give you great performance. There's a reason you don't see articles on optimizing performance with USB drives. ;-)

Hello Guys according to that topic i think If you want to run XenServer on a usb while protecting your unique O.S., this is what you need to do:
Find out if your system facilitates Startup from a USB program.
Find out if your system allows technological innovation.
Installing and Operating XenServer 4.1 on an exterior USB Drive.
