TOPIC: Management network

Management network 9 months 4 days ago #12758

We are currently facing a problem to add hosts for a new zone (in advanced network mode).

The hosts addition is failing because the agent cannot find the management network. Of course this network is present on the host as we can ssh to it. See log below:

2012-10-04 11:21:20,040 DEBUG [agent.transport.Request] (AgentManager-Handler-5:null) Seq 12-443809794: Sending { Cmd , MgmtId: 161337677730, via: 12, Ver: v1, Flags: 100111, [{"CheckNetworkCommand":{"networkInfoList":[{"physicalNetworkId":10,"privateNetworkName":"AdminPub"},{"physicalNetworkId":11,"publicNetworkName":"ProdPub"},{"physicalNetworkId":12,"storageNetworkName":"Storage"},{"physicalNetworkId":13,"guestNetworkName":"ProdPriv"}],"wait":0}}] }
2012-10-04 11:21:20,141 DEBUG [agent.transport.Request] (AgentManager-Handler-13:null) Seq 12-443809794: Processing: { Ans: , MgmtId: 161337677730, via: 12, Ver: v1, Flags: 110, [{"CheckNetworkAnswer":{"_reconnect":false,"result":false,"details":"Can not find network: AdminPub","wait":0}}] }
2012-10-04 11:21:20,141 WARN [cloud.vm.VirtualMachineManagerImpl] (AgentManager-Handler-13:null) Cleanup failed due to Can not find network: AdminPub

The only thing that is different from our current setup (basic network zone) is that the hosts and the Cloudstack management server are not in the same subnet.

Is it mandatory for the cloudstack management server and the hosts management network to be in the same subnet?

How is the check for the network carried on the host? How is the network detected?

Thanks for your help!

The administrator has disabled public write access.

This was just a simple typo issue. You have to make sure to put the right name of your NIC when you configure the different networks.
