Hi,

I was wondering why there is no cloudstack for debian?
Am I missing something somewhere?

There are debs produced for Ubuntu Lucid, that 'might' work on Debian. We'd welcome help from debian packagers to produce packages for Debian, but heretofore there's been little help or interest in doing so, so it hasn't been done.

I guess the place to start would be with the Ubuntu packages and the file bugs against it at bugs.cloud.com.

Ok,

Thanks, but I've started with Ubuntu yesterday.
I'm missing some easy to understand step-by-step description on how to install the whole stack.

I've downloaded the Ubuntu binaries, started the install.sh and installed "Management Server".
Is this all I have to do to have the web-panel running?
Cause I don't see anything at <ip/host>:8080

So I'd urge you to take a look at the quick install guide on docs.cloud.com

But short story is once managmeent server is installed you need to eihter tell it to instlal the database server or have another installed somewhere

you then need to run cloud-setup-databases with the appropriate arguments
and then finally cloud-setup-management - and then you should see something at http://hostname:8080/client

Thanks.

Not sure whether the docs were written to comply with the Ubuntu distribution.

Are there no production-ready releases yet?

So it's a situation of demand. Technically the only supported distros are RHEL5 and RHEL6 (though we have customers on the binary clones CentOS and Scientific Linux) Fedora and Ubuntu are done as a best effort, and sadly the 'effort' behind Ubuntu hasn't matched the disparity that exists between Ubuntu and the RHT-based distros. It really needs some attention mainly the shell and python scripts that handle installation and setup and the packaging. If you are interested in helping, don't hesitate to bring this up on the cloudstack-devel mailing list, it would be welcome.
